For many years men and women alike have suffered from the effects of overweight. Diets, weight programs and other attempts have failed in removing body fat. One way some are removing this excess is by liposuction new york. This is a surgery to remove excess fat from certain areas of the body and requires a general anesthetic.

People become overweight for many reasons. Some have personal problems that lead them to seek consolation in food. Others have not been able to connect their problem with bad eating habits and lack of exercise. When a physical problem is ruled out then it is time to seek another solution. Diets and many fat reducing programs are on the market and have worked for some people. For those who have gone this route and have not had success then surgery might be the answer.

Body fat accumulates mainly in the stomach, buttocks, hips and legs, as well as around the arms. Removing this fat can become a life or death issue for some people. Before any surgery is done, people with this problem are urged to exhaust all other avenues possible.

The idea of this type of procedure was introduced in the 1920's and several unsuccessful attempts were made in the following years. In 1982 a method was introduced which infused water into the fat areas which was then drawn off. It wasn't until the 1990's the process of using ultrasound to melt the fat and suction it off was brought onto the scene. This is the procedure used today.

Today's methods incorporate the ultrasound technique and has reached a state of being relatively safe and efficient. A new technique used involves removing fat from one body area and, after cleaning, reinserting it into another part. This is used when contouring another location, such as areas of the face or breasts is desired.

When using a person's own fat to reconstruct another place on the body the problem of rejection is virtually eliminated. It is popular in the elimination of wrinkles and there is very little blood loss or discomfort from the procedure. Using one's own fat to treat wrinkles is a common practice in many places that also use other products for this purpose.

People accepted for this procedure are carefully screened. As with any surgery procedure these is always some amount of risk. Any health problems automatically exclude a person from this course of action. In addition, the fat involved must have remained after an extensive attempt at diets and other weight removing programs.

There are other factors to be considered. Both the patient and the doctor must agree on the amount of fat to be removed. Too much fat removal will sometimes result in low spots, or dents, in the area where the work was done. This is not attractive and, unfortunately does not automatically go away. For some men and women liposuction in new york has worked beautifully but it is not a procedure for everyone. A full understanding should be had before any surgery such as this is undertaken.
